Situation
Existing hardwood timber rail cross overs have distorted and become slippery especially when wet.
The Task
Design, manufacture, supply and install Staircare SC-R rail cross over made form FRP H-Beam supports and custom made grating with silicon carbide anti slip grit with UV protection. Remove and dispose of existing hardwood cross overs. Supply engineering sign off, design and as build drawings for 62 pedestrian rail cross overs.
Certification
The StairCare FRP track cross over conform with:
- AS 1657-2013; fixed platforms, walkways, stairways and ladders – Design, Construction and Installation.
- AS 4586:2013; Slip Resistance Classification of New Pedestrian Surface Materials.
- AS 1428.1-2009; Design for Access and Mobility.
- ESC 520; Level Crossings – Rail Corp Engineering Standard, Version 2.3 Issued July 2010.
Result
Staircare worked in close consultation with Downer AMC Service Engineer Rail and the Facility Support Team Leader.
This Cooperation ensured a safe, smooth, efficient and on time completion of all works.
