Staircare FRP FAQs
Yes, FRP grating and cover plate gratings in square mesh configuration offer bi-directional strength. Deflections and load tables are available on request. Pultruded FRP grates are made of “I” or “T” type independent load bars that can provide greater one directional load spans compared to the equivalent height square mesh grating.
Staircare SC-R materials including FRP grates, structural profiles and handrails offer high resistance to saltwater and chemicals such as; acid, alkali and solvent liquids.
Our standard products use the superior isophthalic polyester resin. For special applications Staircare offers vinyl ester or phenolic resin as an alternative.
Where possible, Staircare custom make FRP grating and we offer a cut to size service to suit individual requirements.
Staircare SC-R handrails have been load tested and fully comply with requirements of AS1657 – 2018. Load test is available on request.
During the manufacturing process a silicon carbide anti-slip grit is incorporated into the surface. This can be varied from barefoot grade to extra heavy duty and offers the highest slip resistance class P5. When tested in accordance with AS/NZS 4586-2013.
Staircare FRP materials weigh considerably less compared with traditional materials, therefore, there is no need for heavy lifting equipment. Only simple hand tools are required for installation, eliminating the need for welding and welding permits.
Staircare FRP corrosion resistance and UV protection greatly reduce or eliminate the need for repainting and a pressure washer or gernie is excellent for cleaning FRP walkway grating or stair treads with anti-slip grit, further reducing maintenance costs.
