Situation: Merlin – Sydney Aquarium required a structural raised FRP floor for outside quarantine holdings tanks.
The Task: Design, fabricate and install raised SC-R mini mesh floor at 700mm and 450mm floor heights to hold 1 x 8000lt, 1 x 5000lt and 2 x 1000lt holding tanks including heavy water filters and accessories.
The SC-R 38mm thick mini mesh was supported with adjustable floor pedestals and custom made FRP support frames for tank locations
Certification: SC-R Mini Mesh raised floor conforms to:
- AS1170.0 and AS1170.1 Structural Design Actions
- AS1657 – 2018 Fixed Platforms, Walkways, Stairways and Ladders – Design, Construction and Installation
- AS4586 – 2013 Slip Resistance of New Pedestrian Surface Materials
Result: Pre – fabricated support frames, adjustable pedestals and SC-R mini mesh worked together requiring minimal on-site cutting for a very successful installation allowing Sydney Aquarium immediate tank installation.
