Situation
Heron Island Jetty, problems with very slippery aluminium stair treads and walkways that are used for boat access and swimming.
The Task
Supply custom made SC-R mini mesh stair treads and four platforms for fixing to existing jetty substructure. During the manufacturing process a silicon carbide anti slip grit is incorporated into the stair tread and walkway surface that does not de-laminate and offers class: P5 Slip Resistance.
Certification
Staircare SC-R Walkway and Platforms conform to:
- AS 1657:2018: Fixed platforms, walkways , stairways and ladders – Design, construction and installation
- AS4586:2013 : Slip resistance classification of new pedestrian surface materials
Result
The installation was coordinated by the maintenance manager for Heron and Wilson Islands, Governed by tides as some of the stair treads and landings are submerged by high tides.
