Situation
Sydney Train Eveleigh and Hornsby Railway Depot requested FRP Work Platforms.
The Task
Design, manufacture and supply FRP non-conductive mid-rail coupler work platforms with 2 access stairs and removable handrails.
Design fabricate FRP non-conductive mid rail coupler work platforms floating between rails above work pit for installation by Moxon Industries at Eveleigh Train Depot. Stair platform access on both sides of the rails with removable FRP handrails; including, engineers’ certificate and sign off
Certification
Staircare SC-R stair system conforms to:-
- AS 1657:2018: Fixed platforms, walkways, stairways and ladders – Design, construction and installation.
- AS 4586:2013: Slip resistance classification of new pedestrian surface materials
- AS1170.1-2002: Structural design actions.
Result
SC-R mid rail work platforms with handrails allow for safe work on train couplers. Trains can roll over platforms with handrails removed and stored.
